Overview
MCS is hiring for Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentices for our Orlando, FL office. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.
The Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentice must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications for commercial electrical equipment installations. The Apprentice will require good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government regulations.
Typical duties- Installing, repairing, or replacing electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic, line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts
- Installing, repairing, or replacing generators and industrial storage batteries
- Installing electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC
- Installing, maintaining, and calibrating industrial equipment and connected devices
- Communicating clearly and concisely
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the NEC
- Reading and understanding blueprints/schematics
- 2 evening classroom attendance per week – Tuesday/Thursday
High School diploma or equivalent, Apprenticeship training preferred.
Certification RequirementsAbility to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
Experience Requirements- Needs to have a detailed knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Must enroll in the IEC program. (Currently enrolled candidates preferred).
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, etc.
- Ability to read, speak and understand English.
- Knowledge of “Safe” working practices (e.g., OSHA, Lock Out / Tag Out).
- Clean background with the ability to pass a required drug screening.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including overtime if necessary
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must possess own transportation, as most locations aren’t accessible with public transportation
