We are seeking a strategic and experienced security executive to join our leadership team as Vice President, Security. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across our parks while supporting operational excellence, guest experience, and organizational resilience.
As a key member of park leadership, this role provides vision, direction, and oversight for all security operations, aligning security strategy with business objectives while fostering a culture of safety, preparedness, and service.
- Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight for all security operations across multiple park locations and supporting operations
- Lead, develop, and mentor a large, multi-level security organization of approximately 150 Ambassadors and leaders
- Establish and execute comprehensive security strategies that support guest experience, operational continuity, and risk mitigation
- Direct threat assessments, investigations, and incident response activities involving internal and external matters
- Serve as incident commander or senior advisor during emergencies or crisis situations
- Strengthen preparedness through workplace violence prevention, emergency response planning, travel security, and enterprise security awareness programs
- Partner cross-functionally to implement effective loss prevention and asset protection controls
- Monitor regional and industry intelligence trends to proactively enhance security posture and readiness
- Maintain strong partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies
- Ensure policies, procedures, and standards remain current within a dynamic operating environment and aligned with company expectations
- Champion a service-focused security culture that supports both internal teams and guests
- Oversee integration and advancement of security technologies and systems
- Lead workforce planning, hiring, training, scheduling, engagement, and retention strategies
- Develop and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures and training programs
- Represent Sea World in court proceedings and external security matters when required
- Manage departmental operating budgets and resources effectively
- Provide regular communication and strategic updates to senior leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in security operations, preferably within large-scale, public-facing environments
- Demonstrated success leading complex teams in high-visibility hospitality, entertainment, or similar operational settings
- Strong executive presence with proven ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Experience managing broad security disciplines including investigations, emergency management, loss prevention, and risk mitigation
- Proven business acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster engagement, accountability, and collaboration
- Experience developing and delivering training programs and operational standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
- Valid state driver’s license
- Availability to support a 24/7 operation, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations as needed
- Law enforcement or command-level security leadership experience
- Experience with in hospitality, theme park, or large venue environments
- Experience interacting with media or supporting public-facing incidents
