Store Team Leader in Training – pOpshelf (Greater Orlando, FL)

Responsibilities
  • Support the Store Team Leader in planning and implementing all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, presentation, selling, staffing, and customer support.
  • Assist in creating a customer‑first store culture and maintaining exceptional store standards.
  • Provide superior customer service, greet and assist customers, operate cash registers and scanners to itemize purchases.
  • Model product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, well‑organized store environment and train team members on store practices.
  • Assist with employee scheduling, training, safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Open and close the store on a minimum of two days per week.
  • Manage merchandise processing: receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking, and rotating merchandise on shelves and building displays.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining plan‑zones and ensure items are presented correctly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels, control damages and markdowns, manage paperwork, and facility controls.
  • Ensure financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Understand cash handling procedures including accountability and deposit controls.
  • Perform cash register functions and operate tools to generate reports (e.g., HHT, self‑checkout, store computer).
  • Strong product inventory knowledge and merchandising abilities.
  • Knowledge of facility, safety, and cash control policies.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Problem‑solving skills for varied situations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred).
  • One year of experience in a specialty retail environment (preferred).
  • One year of experience in a retail environment (preferred for external candidates).
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling to run checkout station, stock merchandise, and unload trucks.
  • Handling merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, carts, dollies, and U‑boats.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional climbing (ladder) and driving to make bank deposits, attend meetings, and travel to other pOpshelf stores.
  • Fast‑paced environment with moderate noise level.
  • Exposure to strong scents and fragrances.
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
