Orange County Animal Services is a progressive animal‑welfare focused organization that enforces the Orange County Code to protect both citizens and animals. We welcome more than 20,000 animals to our shelter each year and receive nearly 65,000 calls annually. The Field Operations group responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to citizens’ calls regarding animal abuse, neglect, loose and nuisance animals, injured animals, animal bites and attacks, and abandoned pets.
Additional community‑based services include pet adoptions, foster care, volunteer program, community outreach and education, and trap‑neuter‑release.
- Performs spay/neuter surgery for dogs and cats at the Orange County Spay/Neuter Clinic.
- Oversees pre‑ and post‑operative care of animals brought into the clinic.
- Examines and authorizes treatment of animal diseases and injuries in sheltered animals and decides on appropriate disposition.
- Provides medical insight concerning drugs and procedures used for euthanizing and tranquilizing animals.
- Provides assistance to the Department Manager and Assistant Department Manager as needed, including public education, community relations, surveys, studies or other important activities.
- Lifts/carries a minimum of 50 pounds, stands for long periods, walks through kennel sections and examines, restrains and treats animals.
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university.
- Florida Veterinary License to practice.
Pay Grade: 420 – From $39.54 to $79.77
