The Progressive Care Unit is a 48‑bed unit that provides specialized care for patients who are too stable for the intensive care unit but require more monitoring and attention than standard care units. Patients include post‑surgical, respiratory (COPD, pneumonia, non‑invasive ventilation), sepsis/infections, and chronic illness exacerbations (diabetes, kidney failure). PCUs bridge the ICU and standard units with telemetry, continuous monitoring, and specialized nursing, enabling safe transitions and recovery.
