Position OverviewPsychiatric Nurse (RN) – Part‑Time (20 hours per week). We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team at University Behavioral Center, located in Orlando, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health practices and be committed to providing high‑quality care to patients. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred, and an active Florida RN license is required.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ mental health status and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
- Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
- Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.

- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida (or eligible to receive or renew)
- Current CPR or BLS certification
- Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5‑65 years+
12‑hour shifts; day or night shift available; rotating weekends.
Skills- Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation (preferred)
- Experience with behavioral health patients (preferred)
- Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients (beneficial)
- Familiarity with older adult care practices (advantageous)
- Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting (highly desirable)
- Competence in taking vital signs accurately
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills
