Responsibilities
  • Champion the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
  • Participate in shared leadership structure.
  • Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team skill sets.
  • Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners.
  • Monitor overall patient status and closely observe seriously ill patients.
  • Ensure compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Act as a resource supporting front‑line team members and providers.
  • Support clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
  • Perform direct patient care activities as required.
  • Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience through Nurse Leader rounds.
  • Lead or participate in safety huddles.
  • Embrace and promote change and problem‑solving.
  • Assess equipment needs to ensure staff have necessary tools.
  • Support and sustain leader‑driven initiatives.
  • Assist with retention strategies for new team members.
  • Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
  • Ensure proper staff allocation, meal break assignments, and team relief as needed.
  • Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources.
  • Maintain punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Leadership
  • Attend leadership huddles, assist in new nursing/clinical initiatives, and foster positive multidisciplinary partnerships.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
  • Communicate ideas clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Promote a safe working environment and support follow‑up for WPV occurrences.
Appropriate Clinical Practice Knowledge
  • Support the Professional Practice Model.
  • Exhibit superior clinical and critical thinking skills for the assigned unit/department.
  • Act as a clinical expert and liaison for care aligned with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Performance/Quality Improvement
  • Participate in unit/department audits to identify improvement opportunities and trends.
  • Promote high‑quality nursing practice supported by evidence‐based research and national standards.
Qualifications Education & Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certification
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification in area of expertise preferred.
  • May require one or more of the following based on patient population:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
Experience

Minimum one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; acute care setting preferred.
