Education/Training
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in area of expertise; preferred.
- May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
- ACLS
- PALS
- NRP
- TNCC
Experience
- 1 year of experience as an RN required; 2-3 years of experience in a Pre-Post/PACU/Recovery Room setting preferred.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilizes information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient focused action.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays (e.g., intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms).
- Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
- Observes, monitors, and assesses patients’ condition; recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious situations and calls Physician or takes preplanned emergency measures when Physician is not immediately available.
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care; evaluates progress toward outcomes.
- Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
- Functions as a patient and family advocate.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit/department.
- Serves as a role model for staff and supports hospital and nursing department goals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the life span; assesses patient data to identify age-specific needs.
- Coordinates care and delegates appropriately within a defined patient group.
- Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and regulatory-compliant manner (assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, patient safety).
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment per unit requirements.
- Prioritizes patient care in alignment with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
- Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
- Delegates tasks to healthcare team members per patient needs and team capabilities.
- Communicates patient condition or unit concerns to the health care team.
- Demonstrates compassionate, therapeutic care for patients and families.
