Position: RN Nurse Resident
Department: DPH Intermediate Critical Care / Multisystem PCU
Status:
Variable Full-Time (Three 12 hour shifts with rotating weekends)
Shift: Nights (7pm - 7am)
The ICC / Multisystem Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 33-bed unit located adjacent to the ICU. This unit functions as a transitional care ICU step-down for patients who no longer require intensive care but still need close monitoring. Specialized medication drips include Nicardipine, Insulin, Nitroglycerin, and others. We care for adult patients who are stable enough to leave the ICU but require ongoing observation and care, including patients recovering from post-cath procedures, those needing advanced monitoring, and those requiring ventilator support.
Responsibilities- Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse.
- Assesses patients’ needs and develops/revises individualized plans of care based on their needs and responses; evaluates progress toward expectations.
- Acts as an advocate for patients and their families.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit/department.
- Functions as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Collaborates with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage patient care; coordinates care for a defined group and delegates tasks as appropriate.
- Documents patient care accurately in accordance with standards, including assessment, education, medications, treatments, and patient safety.
- Prioritizes patient care using evidence-based standards of care.
- Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to the healthcare team; supports transitions and onboarding of new team members and/or students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
- Nursing school graduate.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license.
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP is required for NICU.
- Must have active RN license.
