Pediatric ICU APRN or PA – Advent Health for Children, Orlando, FL
- Perform admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting.
- Perform procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
- Manage medical and post‑operative ICU patients.
- Treat conditions such as respiratory disease, liver failure/transplant, multi‑system organ failure, uncontrolled/new onset diabetes, neuro‑surgery patients, and varying levels of acuity; ECMO preferred (no post‑operative cardiac care).
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including routine labs, X‑ray, etc.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, and pre‑ and post‑operative care.
- Monitor clinical course and refer to physicians or specialists as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to provide consistent care and support teams.
- Display caring and professional attitude; passion for pediatric patients and families.
- Work 13 clinical shifts per month (169 hours), covering both day and night call.
Education and Experience Required
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
- Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA‑C in ICU or acute care setting (highly preferred).
- Strong communication skills and a team‑player mentality.
- Preference for nocturnist applicants.
- Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure).
- Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) highly preferred.
- BLS and PALS certification required.
- Successful completion of a third‑party background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
Advent Health for Children’s Walt Disney Pavilion in Orlando is a full‑service tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, more than 30 pediatric ICU beds (including a dedicated PICU), a 102‑bed NICU, a 17‑bed pediatric emergency department, and a statewide pediatric network and transport system.
