Position Summary

Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager – CPCU / Cardiac Progressive Care Unit | Charge Registered Nurse | RN Supervisor

Variable Full‑Time with rotating weekends (Three 12‑hour shifts)
Shift: Days (7am – 7pm)

About the PCU Unit- The PCU is a 48‑bed unit providing specialized care for patients who are too stable for the ICU but require more monitoring than standard care units can provide.
- Patient types include post‑surgical, respiratory (COPD, pneumonia, non‑invasive ventilation), sepsis/infections, chronic illness exacerbations (diabetes, kidney failure), and more.
- PCUs bridge the gap between the ICU and standard care units by offering telemetry, continuous monitoring, and specialized nursing to facilitate a seamless transition while ensuring patient safety and recovery.

- Participate in a shared leadership structure.
- Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team member skill sets.
- Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to meet outcomes.
- Monitor overall patient status and closely monitor seriously ill patients.
- Coordinate or participate in patient care delivery, ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Serve as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers.
- Support clinical collaboration with a focus on expected patient length of stay.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience through Nurse Leader rounds and investigation and response to complaints.
- Participate in or lead safety huddles.
- Embrace, communicate, and promote change and problem‑solving.
- Assess equipment needs, ensuring staff have and can use necessary equipment.
- Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.
- Assist with retention strategies for new team members to foster a best‑place‑to‑work environment.
- Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
- Ensure appropriate allocation/adjustment of staff, assignment of meal breaks, relief of team members, etc.
- Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision‑making.
- Maintain punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Support strategic imperatives by attending leadership huddles and new nursing/clinical initiatives, fostering multidisciplinary partnerships.
- Serve as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
- Communicate ideas clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Promote a safe working environment and support or coordinate follow‑up related to workplace violence occurrences.
- Participate in unit/department audits to identify improvement opportunities and trends.
- Promote high‑quality nursing practice supported by evidence‑based practice, research, organization, and national standards.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in area of expertise preferred.
- May require one or more of the following certifications based on assigned patient population:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- 2+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Prior preceptor / charge / lead experience highly preferred but not required.
