Schedule: Full‑time, Three (3) 12‑hour shifts
Shift: Nights, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am (with weekend rotation)

Unit Highlights
  • The Intensive Care Unit at Advent Health East Orlando is a 24‑bed multi‑systems unit with a cardiac blend. Nurse‑to‑patient ratios are 1:2, and assignments are made based on acuity. Nurses have exposure to a wide array of patient conditions, including renal failure, respiratory failure with ventilator management, septic shock with MODS, pulmonary, post‑cardiac and more.
  • The multi‑disciplinary Critical Care team includes intensivists, registered nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, case managers, social workers, and chaplains. Nurses are integrally engaged in patient rounds, case reviews, morbidity and mortality/performance improvement reviews, and focused professional practice in critical care.
  • The unit works closely with a 24‑hour intensivist team to provide optimal care for patients and comfort for families. An on‑site provider is available for support if escalation of care is required.
  • Dedicated preceptors support new nurses, focusing on education, competency assessment, and a curriculum beyond general critical care concepts.
  • We focus on intentional education and partner with subject matter experts to help team members grow and thrive on this challenging and exciting unit.

Role Responsibilities

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care to identified age‑specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating) to achieve departmental goals. Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

  • Nursing Process: Completes timely assessments per Practice Guidelines, including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, including signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions, interventions, and nursing diagnoses according to patients’ actual or potential health conditions or needs.
  • Nursing Knowledge: Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non‑invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes.
  • Patient Safety: Applies knowledge, skill, and adherence to all regulatory standards; follows strict infection prevention precautions and medication safety procedures; emphasizes patient teaching.
  • Communication: Fosters excellent nurse‑patient relationships through effective therapeutic communication; adheres to compassion and image standards; conducts hourly rounding when applicable; fully communicates with interdisciplinary team during hand‑offs; follows chain of command.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Required);
    Bachelor's of Nursing or higher a plus.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CCNS, ABLS, ACLS, BLS, CPEN, CHEMO, CCRN‑E, CEFM, NEONATAL MED, NRP, NIHSS, S.T.A.B.L.E., TNCC).
  • Critical care experience with intensive care or related units.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, monitoring, and critical care equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Pay Range

$31.53 – $52.24 per hour
