This full‑time, night‑shift position (7:00 pm–7:00 am) offers a vital opportunity to provide advanced nursing care in a supportive community hospital environment.

Qualifications Education / Training
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.
Licensure / Certification
  • Current registered nurse licensure in Florida or the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required.
  • Less than 1 year should apply to Graduate Nurse or Nurse Resident openings.
  • 1–2+ years of ICU, PCU, and/or ED RN experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high‑intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
  • Use assessment data to anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence‑based actions.
  • Monitor and adjust specialized equipment and interpret electronic displays such as intracranial and central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
  • Respond to life‑saving situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocol.
  • Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ conditions, recognize serious situations, and invoke physician or emergency protocols when necessary.
  • Develop and revise individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses, evaluating progress toward expected outcomes.
  • Respect diversity and build respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  • Act as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge appropriate to patient age and developmental needs.
  • Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  • Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to manage the unit/department effectively.
  • Model staff behaviors and support hospital and nursing department goals.
  • Interpret data related to patient status, identifying age‑specific needs.
  • Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to team members.
  • Document patient care consistently, meeting all regulatory standards.
  • Perform nursing skills and use equipment as required by unit guidelines.
  • Prioritize patient care according to evidence‑based standards of care.
  • Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  • Delegate tasks in line with patient needs and team capabilities.
  • Communicate patient condition or unit concerns to healthcare team members.
  • Provide compassionate, therapeutic environments for patients and families.
  • Stay aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
  • Collaborate with education and leadership teams to support new members and students.
  • Maintain reliable attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and federal/state standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Responsibilities – Other Related Functions
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous quality improvement.
  • Participate in, and may lead, unit and organizational nursing practice committees.
  • Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching of professional practice.
  • Use supplies efficiently and maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
  • Attend staff development sessions, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings.
  • Partner with leadership to identify professional development needs.
  • Assume responsibility for personal professional development and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
