Position SummarySouth Lake Hospital, a comprehensive medical and surgical acute care facility located in Clermont, FL, seeks a Registered Nurse for our Intensive Care Unit. This full‑time, night‑shift position (7:00 pm–7:00 am) offers a vital opportunity to provide advanced nursing care in a supportive community hospital environment.

- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.
- Current registered nurse licensure in Florida or the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas.
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required.
- Less than 1 year should apply to Graduate Nurse or Nurse Resident openings.
- 1–2+ years of ICU, PCU, and/or ED RN experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high‑intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Use assessment data to anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence‑based actions.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment and interpret electronic displays such as intracranial and central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
- Respond to life‑saving situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocol.
- Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ conditions, recognize serious situations, and invoke physician or emergency protocols when necessary.
- Develop and revise individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses, evaluating progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity and build respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge appropriate to patient age and developmental needs.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to manage the unit/department effectively.
- Model staff behaviors and support hospital and nursing department goals.
- Interpret data related to patient status, identifying age‑specific needs.
- Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to team members.
- Document patient care consistently, meeting all regulatory standards.
- Perform nursing skills and use equipment as required by unit guidelines.
- Prioritize patient care according to evidence‑based standards of care.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks in line with patient needs and team capabilities.
- Communicate patient condition or unit concerns to healthcare team members.
- Provide compassionate, therapeutic environments for patients and families.
- Stay aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborate with education and leadership teams to support new members and students.
- Maintain reliable attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and federal/state standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in, and may lead, unit and organizational nursing practice committees.
- Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching of professional practice.
- Use supplies efficiently and maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
- Attend staff development sessions, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings.
- Partner with leadership to identify professional development needs.
- Assume responsibility for personal professional development and continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
