Licensed Practical Nurse-Surgical Specialty

The Orlando Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to work in external remainder. The Surgical Specialty LPN is responsible for surgical and non‑surgical patient care and works in collaboration with others. The GI LPN at the Department of Veterans Affairs provides direct patient care in a Gastroenterology clinic, assisting with procedures, administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and educating veterans about treatments.

• Enter orders for labs, supplies, and prosthetic items as permitted per nursing protocol policy.
• Provide education to patients, families, significant others, and WD caregivers.
• Float to other specialty areas as needed.
• Maintain competency in set up and breakdown of minor procedures.

Demonstrates basic holistic nursing care through collaborative strategies with others. The LPN provides nursing care to Veterans with a variety of needs and maintains acceptable clinical skills in the healthcare setting, under close supervision of the RN. LPNs are expected to perform all duties, providing quality care for stable Veterans within the scope of their license.
