Professional Development Practitioner – Clinical Learning Specialist

Position Summary:

Opening Summer 2026 at 4000 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland, FL. Combining the strengths of Orlando Health and the high‑quality physicians at Watson Clinic, we are expanding access to award‑winning specialty care for patients in Polk County and beyond. The new 550,000‑square‑foot, seven‑story, multi‑specialty hospital will serve as a vital healthcare hub offering:

  • 300+ inpatient beds and 69 emergency and observation beds
  • 11 operating rooms and four cardiac interventional suites
  • Dedicated labor and delivery services – including a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that will debut shortly after the hospital opens
  • Comprehensive cardiovascular, neurology, and oncology services
  • Advanced surgical procedures

Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments and formulate educational plans based on data collected.
  • Develop and coordinate orientation processes for assigned areas, meeting regularly with orientees, preceptors and leadership.
  • Actively participate in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Implement educational programs to enhance nursing competence using innovative teaching methodologies and technologies.
  • Create evidence‑based, culturally competent curricula in accordance with ANPD standards, addressing learning needs across expertise levels.
  • Use the ANPD Practice Model to design and evaluate department‑specific education.
  • Assess and verify team proficiency through point‑of‑care observations.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to review progress and provide feedback.
  • Analyze competency verification data and report findings to stakeholders.
  • Support initiatives influencing department or organizational outcomes, with approval from site education manager.
  • Work with Clinical Learning to enhance clinical skills and professional development.
  • Promote participation in professional societies and initiatives.
  • Provide education on organizational, regulatory policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize evidence‑based, quality clinical practice consistent with research and national standards.
  • Seek new knowledge and skills, integrating diverse fields.
  • Navigate interdisciplinary projects, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals from various disciplines to foster interdisciplinary learning.
  • Embrace change and uncertainty with a proactive mindset.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Assist with corporate‑led courses as requested.
  • Serve as a preceptor for Learning Specialists.
  • Maintain visibility across shifts, supporting day, night, and weekend teams.
  • Function as a resource for the comprehensive health records (CHR) system.
  • Maintain accurate records of educational programs, assessments, and evaluations, ensuring compliance with ANPD documentation standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Generate impact reports for educational interventions to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with student placement through collaboration with student services.
  • Maintain punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies.
Other Related Functions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by educational leadership.
Qualifications Education/Training

Graduate from an approved school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida.
  • National specialty certification in area of practice obtained within two (2) years of hire, except where unavailable.
  • Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification as required by department or unit.
Experience

Three (3) years of related clinical experience.
