Overview
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Development will be responsible for leading the regional fundraising efforts for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida with a focus on developing individual, corporate, and foundation donors within the specified geographic areas as well as support Fundraising & Advocacy Board Members within these counties on fundraising opportunities. In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Development will execute the organization's fundraising strategy throughout Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
- Provide leadership and direction to the County/Club Regional Fundraising & Advocacy Boards in the effective operation of all development activities required to fund the Club operations and deliver programs within the community. Lead and support the Development Officer team in positioning their Boards to cultivate and solicit annual, major, capital and legacy gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, government agencies and special events.
Ensure collective annual goal of counties is met. - Building on existing Resource Development strategies, design, recommend and pursue growth strategies for existing fundraising channels within specific counties served. Identify new opportunities to expand organizational funding in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Create new revenue streams by cultivating successful partnerships with Board Members and community leaders.
- Develop, manage and grow a diverse portfolio of major donors including individual, foundation and corporate donors that will generate $1M+ annually. Identify and cultivate a portfolio of potential donor prospects. Conduct donor discovery visits with highly rated major gift prospects. Steward existing donors through frequent communication and relationship building.
- Meet with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and community leaders to share Boys & Girls Clubs message and articulate the need for funding support. Actively represent the organization through speaking engagements, attendance at community events and membership in appropriate organizations.
- Ensure timely and accurate utilization of online workspace by Development Officer team to complete actions assigned to manage donor relationships in assigned portfolio. Monitor action reports for tracking of activity and progress made.
- Develop highly engaged Boards of Directors in assigned counties through identification, recruitment, orientation, involvement, evaluation and recognition.
- Support seven fundraising breakfasts, utilizing the Benevon Model, including oversight of planning, budget, reporting, scheduling and follow up.
- Involve and train county/club board members to participate in solicitation and other income development activities.
- Attend Branch Board and committee meetings as support of Development Officers in an advisory role.
- Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the counties development annual budgets, controlling expenditures within budget and maintaining donor and financial records.
- Develop and implement a customized annual fundraising plan for individual counties in collaboration with the assigned Development Officer to achieve short-term and long-term goals. Monitors progress, provides analysis and reporting on the overall performance of fundraising against goals and strategic plan.
- Lead county verbal and written contact with Chief Development Officer, staff, peers, and volunteers for the purpose of exchanging information, providing programs reports regarding activities and planned programs and events.
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Board Members, the Development Department and Chief Development Officer to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. Maintains close relationships with administrative personnel.
External: Maintains contact with individual, corporate, and foundation donors as well as external community groups and leaders.
QualificationsKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
REQUIRED:
- Four-year degree required. Degree in Non-profit Management or Business preferred. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience preferred in a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization.
- Advanced knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for non-profit agencies and organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to facilitate large and small group presentations
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Documented history of successful fundraising. Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
