APM Technician

This role supports the safe, reliable operation of an airport-based automated transit system by performing hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance, system recovery activities, and central control operations. The position also provides technical guidance to operations and maintenance technicians while ensuring compliance with established procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, adjustments, repairs, diagnostics, and system modifications on electro-mechanical and electronic components supporting automated transit operations.
• Interpret work instructions, technical manuals, drawings, and schematics to troubleshoot and restore system functionality.
• Utilize precision measurement and diagnostic tools—including micrometers, calipers, oscilloscopes, and analyzers—to identify defects, verify tolerances, and calibrate components.
• Operate centralized control systems to monitor system performance and respond to operational events in a safe and efficient manner.
• Execute vehicle recovery activities when required, following established safety and operational protocols.
• Accurately document all maintenance, inspections, repairs, and operational activities using required reporting formats and systems.
• Provide hands-on training, coaching, and technical direction to junior or less-experienced technicians.
• Lead assigned maintenance tasks and formally sign off on completed work.

• Support daily operations to maintain workflow, schedules, and quality standards.
• Identify abnormal equipment behavior and escalate material, tooling, or operational concerns as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety policies.
• Participate in meetings, briefings, and work groups related to system performance, safety initiatives, and procedural updates.
• Perform other related duties as required to support system reliability and operational continuity.

• Assume acting supervisory responsibilities during the absence of designated supervisory or engineering staff.

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an electro-mechanical maintenance environment.
• Prior experience supporting automated transit, rail, or similar systems preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of precision measurement tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Proven ability to analyze technical documentation, schematics, and complex work instructions.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
• Successful completion of background screening, drug/alcohol testing, physical examination, and color vision testing.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

• Associate degree in Electronics or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Technical certification in aviation, automotive, or electro-mechanical technology preferred.

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs regularly, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs with assistance.
• Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

• Work performed in operational and industrial environments with exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, and varying weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
