Organization and Mission

The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Overview

This Law Enforcement Investigator II position is within the Office of the Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, Orlando, Florida.

Pay

$60,000.20 - $62,425.00 Annually

Qualifications
  • Be at least 19 years of age (18 for correctional officer).
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving perjury, false statement, or have received a dishonorable discharge.
  • Have processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.
  • Have passed a physical examination meeting commission specifications.
  • Have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
  • Submit a sworn affidavit of compliance with the above requirements.
  • Complete a commission‑approved basic recruit training program, unless exempt under specific service conditions.
  • Achieve an acceptable score on the officer certification examination for the applicable discipline.
  • Comply with continuing training or education requirements of s. 943.135.

Preference will be given to candidates with healthcare fraud investigative experience in a Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, or five years of sworn law enforcement experience, or five years of work experience conducting healthcare fraud investigations. All newly hired employees must obtain CJSTC Sworn Law Enforcement Certification within three months from hire.

Responsibilities

The duties include conducting investigations of alleged Medicaid fraud, patient abuse or neglect, and related criminal violations in the Medicaid program. Responsibilities involve:

  • Conduct routine and complex investigations (65% of time), including interviews, arrests, search warrant execution, and evidence collection.
  • Review and analyze records (20% of time) to prepare reports for criminal prosecution, civil action, or administrative referrals.
  • Assist in prosecutions and testify in court (10%).
  • Perform other assigned duties (5%).
