The Haba Law Firm is a boutique law firm with offices in Central and Southwest Florida, handling cases in both state and federal courts in sexual abuse and human trafficking litigation. Our firm operates in both an in-office and virtual environment, leveraging technology to provide efficient and client-focused legal services. Employees are expected to be available and engaged throughout the entire workday, even when working remotely.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team that is based in Florida. This is a full-time, remote or in-person position depending on location.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, tech-savvy, strong in Microsoft products, and capable of managing multiple administrative and legal tasks in a virtual setting. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure seamless coordination between attorneys, clients, and court personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, notices, and discovery.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, maintaining case files, and managing busy attorney calendars.
  • Handle law firm phone calls.
  • Handle client communications professionally and in compliance with ethical rules.
  • Assist with document collection, filing, and data entry.
  • Utilize legal software, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based case management systems.
  • Perform notary services - must be a commissioned Florida Notary Public.
Qualifications
  • Experience in legal document drafting
  • Experience in case management.
  • Experience with federal court civil litigation.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based legal software.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive client information.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

  • Notary Public certification in Florida
    .
Salary and Benefits

Employee will be expected to work 40 hours a week. Overtime may occur, but will be rare and notice will be given - mainly when the attorney is in trial. Travel is not expected unless there is a trial.

Salary will based on experience and qualifications.

Employees have the option to buy into a 401K retirement plan.

This position does not come with a firm health care plan. Employee will need to find own means of health care. The law firm is able to put a portion of salary into a Health Savings Plan upon request for a tax benefit.
