JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Operational Excellence Intern plays a key role in supporting Universal Destinations & Experiences’ mission to deliver reliable, efficient, and well-governed technology operations across Destination Technology. This internship provides hands‑on exposure to how large‑scale theme park and resort environments maintain operational stability through process improvement, compliance, and data‑driven decision‑making. In this role, the intern will contribute to cross‑departmental initiatives that strengthen governance, streamline workflows, and enhance the quality and consistency of operational practices.

They will gain experience analyzing real operational data, supporting root cause analysis efforts, and helping maintain the documentation and knowledge resources that guide day‑to‑day technology operations. By collaborating with engineers, analysts, service owners, and leadership, the intern will learn how IT Operational Excellence directly impacts guest experience, team member efficiency, and the reliability of critical technology systems across the parks and resorts.

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Collection & Analysis
  • Gather operational data from various systems and departments and support KPI and metric tracking for Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Assist in analyzing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports to identify trends and recurring issues.
Process Documentation
  • Support creation, editing, and proofreading of SOPs, standards, and compliance documents.
  • Maintain document management practices and ensure version control.
Operational Support
  • Support day‑to‑day workflow monitoring and administrative tasks related to process tracking, governance reviews, or operational readiness.
  • Help coordinate activities for ongoing projects, such as collecting inputs, organizing project artifacts, and maintaining status updates.
  • Participate in quality checks on documentation, dashboards, and operational materials to ensure alignment across teams.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with different teams to capture processes and ensure consistency across departments.
  • Attend meetings and provide input on operational initiatives.
Knowledge Management
  • Help organize and maintain knowledge‑sharing resources for best practices.
Special Tasks & Occasional Assignments
  • Participate in off‑site or on‑location meetings when required (e.g., meeting with operations teams to capture processes or observe workflows).
  • Support ad‑hoc analysis requests from leadership or governance committees.
  • Help prepare materials or summaries for leadership presentations, or review sessions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Preferred majors include:
    Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics/Data Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
  • Preferred coursework completed:
    Relevant coursework involving process improvement, systems thinking, data analysis, IT service management, or technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, required.
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Preferred proficiency with MS Excel & Power BI, basic understanding of ITIL concepts, especially incident, problem, and change management, basic familiarity with Service Now or similar IT service management platforms.

  • This internship will be an in‑person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than December 2026.
