DevOps Engineer

The Defense Sector at Leidos is currently seeking an experienced Dev Ops Engineer to support multiple agile development teams building and deploying Java, JavaScript, and Rust-based applications across cloud, on-premise, and edge environments. This role focuses on enabling secure, reliable, and automated software delivery while improving developer productivity and system resiliency.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience designing CI/CD pipelines, managing hybrid infrastructure, and partnering closely with software engineers in fast‑paced, iterative development environments.

This position allows telework, but the chosen candidate must be within a reasonable driving distance to one of the following locations:
Morgantown WV, Orlando FL, Omaha NE, or Huntsville AL. Weekly on‑site work at one of these four locations is required.

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting Java, JavaScript, and Rust applications
• Support Agile development teams by automating build, test, deployment, and release processes
• Deploy and manage applications across cloud, on‑premise, and edge computing environments
• Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, or Ansible
• Maintain and optimize containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalent orchestration platforms)
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system availability and performance
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate Dev Sec Ops  practices into pipelines and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure, and performance issues across distributed environments
• Improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency through automation and best practices
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and operational playbooks

• US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance within 365 days of employment
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of professional experience or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
• Strong experience supporting agile or Scrum‑based development teams
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops)
• Experience deploying and supporting applications written in Java, JavaScript, and/or Rust
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, and system administration
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar)
• Experience managing hybrid environments (cloud + on‑premise)
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, QA, and security teams

• US Citizen with an active Top Secret clearance
• Experience supporting C2, distributed systems, or mission‑critical platforms
• Familiarity with edge computing or resource‑constrained deployments
• Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of zero trust, secure build pipelines, and compliance‑driven environments
• Experience with service mesh, Git Ops, or platform engineering practices
• Exposure to performance testing and capacity planning

Pay Range: $87,100.00 – $
