By Light Professional IT Services LLC provides advanced technology solutions to defense, federal, and commercial customers worldwide. This position is 100% on‑site at our Orlando, FL facility and requires U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET clearance.
Position OverviewProvide cybersecurity engineering support to DoD software application development activities through requirements definition, process enhancements, and application security testing.
Responsibilities- Define cybersecurity requirements for software applications to meet program objectives.
- Recommend security engineering practices throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Assess cybersecurity requirement compliance using manual and automated tools and present findings to the customer.
- Perform adversarial assessments against network‑enabled and web applications to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
- Propose mitigation and countermeasures to reduce software‑level threats.
- Interface with software development teams to apply security engineering principles.
- Understand DoD acquisition processes and relevant cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT, or related field; professional or military experience may substitute for a degree.
- Five years of experience preferred;
Security+ or SSCP certification required; IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification required immediately upon hire. - Experience in software engineering, development, and systems engineering throughout all phases of the SDLC.
- Systems administration skills with Linux, security settings, hardening (STIGs), shell scripting or Python a plus.
- Knowledge of threat assessment, offensive security tools, and adversarial techniques.
- Experience implementing NIST SP 800‑53 controls and vulnerability reporting.
- Experience with Cyber Range environments and risk/compliance frameworks.

U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain SECRET clearance. Clearance requirements will be specified in the government task order.
