- Work closely with a radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams
- Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care
- Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures
- Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality
- Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards
- Assess the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs
- Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results
- Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient’s clinical history, and ensure that the information is accurately documented
- Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulate technical factors to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation
- Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated
- Comprehend and comply with quality control standards and participate in all quality control tasks
- Administer medical aid as required for any emergency situation
- Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases
- Assist in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers
- Utilize all corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately
- Ensure safety of all customers
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- Follow established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment
- Maintain well‑stocked and organized work areas
- May be required to work at any facility
- Provide patient transport
- Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Maintain current BLS/Health Care Provider certificate
- For Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography – must maintain ARDMS physics registry and ARDMS OBGYN registry
