Position Summary

The Supervisor Laboratory Client Services oversees daily operations within the department, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to all applicable standards and regulations. This role provides leadership in laboratory support services, including central processing, phlebotomy, specimen send-outs, and billing. The supervisor ensures operational efficiency, addresses service requests, and supports overall patient care through collaborative efforts with clients and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors daily laboratory operations to maintain performance quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures to optimize resource utilization and service quality.
  • Builds and sustains effective relationships with laboratory clients and nursing departments to identify and address service opportunities.
  • Promotes a positive and professional approach and always communicates effectively with customers and team members to identify and resolve service problems.
  • Handles customer complaints and concerns while working to increase overall customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in the preparation of the department budget.
  • Establishes and maintains safety, policies, procedures, objectives, and infection control within the department.
  • Ensures team compliance with all corporate education and recertification requirements.
  • Ensures staff and department compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of laboratory processes, including billing, compliance, and computer services.
  • Manages Kronos scheduling and payroll for the assigned laboratory team.
  • Manages various human resources functions including hiring, training, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Assists leadership in planning and organizing department activities.
  • Attends educational opportunities outside of the department as directed by leadership.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues pertaining to laboratory services and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Participates with the team in program planning and development: defining and implementing programmatic objectives, procedures, and policies; ensures the continuous improvement of services. Maintains required records, reports, and files.
  • Works cooperatively with other departments within Orlando Health. Collaborates with partner agencies during case investigation and treatment.
  • Responds to crisis situations requiring immediate intervention as deemed appropriate by the needs of the Laboratory Assistants.
  • Provides recommendations for the budget.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree required. An associate degree and two years of experience in a laboratory or health-related field may substitute.
  • Experience:

    Two (2) years of experience in a laboratory or health-related field is required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    None.
