PositionPosition Summary Assists with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they relate to Pharmacy Technician functions including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.
Work schedule Weekdays and some weekends. Variable full time. Five 8 hr shifts with start times ranging from 6am-9am.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions
- Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need and availability of resources.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, in accordance with operating instructions, safety regulations and policies and procedures.
- Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures in the assigned area consistent with scientific principles and policy and procedures.
- Performs basic buyer procedures including drug procurement in alignment with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to medication distribution including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and operation of automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory documentation.
- Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
- Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
- Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise in technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition) depending on departmental needs.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Attends in-services/meetings as required.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
- Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
Education/Training
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience
Greater than one year up to four (4) of experience as a pharmacy technician.
