MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Willing to learn to perform hemoglobin testing (blood tests) on clients.
- 1-3 years of verifiable customer service experience.
- Currently have a valid Florida Driver’s License. If not, you will be required to get a Florida Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
- Requires the incumbent to travel to other WIC locations throughout Orange County. If no county vehicle is available, you must have access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation.
- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment.
- This position is a full-time, in-office position. You must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the position.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Certify potential low risk participants to the WIC program and provide nutrition and breastfeeding education.
- Interview and screen participants for demographics and WIC income eligibility; complete required FL-WiSE WIC computer system screens, temporary certification and ineligibility forms; review immunization records as per program requirements.
- Operate FL-WiSE computer system and related equipment (printers, scanners, pin pads, network printers).
- Issue food benefits, special formula, and provide required documents to clients; manage security, storage and inventories including special formula and EBT cards; complete daily and monthly inventories.
- Schedule appointments for participants through the FL-WiSE WIC data system.
- Take height/length and weight measurements; ensure anthropometric equipment is calibrated and clean.
- Perform CLIA-waived hemoglobin testing for WIC participants; calibrate and perform daily controls for Hemocue analyzer; maintain a log of lab results and services performed; keep work/lab stations clean and organized; refer clients back to their provider for all below-normal results per local policy.
- Provide information about WIC program services, policies, rights and obligations, and how to use the WIC EBT benefits card; refer participants to appropriate health department services or community agencies; follow up on referrals and missed certification appointments; instruct participants on proxy procedures, certification periods, and appointment policies; manage VOC cards; offer voter registration documentation.
- Interview and screen participants for Nutrition and Breastfeeding information; complete nutrition questionnaires in the FL-WiSE system.
- Provide second nutrition education contact to clients; ensure education materials adhere to nutrition themes and state/local guidelines; document nutrition education in the FL-WiSE system.
- Participate in Outreach activities (health fairs, DOH events, community programs); engage with healthcare professionals and potential WIC clients; attend mandatory training and staff meetings; perform duties of absent staff as needed; prepare time/service reports and travel reimbursements; maintain daily email communications.
