Job Summary

Orlando Health Physician Associates, one of Central Florida’s largest primary‑care provider groups, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in its bustling multi‑specialty network. With more than 225 family and internal medicine providers, the practice delivers quality care for patients of every age, from pediatric development to obstetrics, chronic disease management, and aging services.

65 Riley Road, Kissimmee, FL 34747
Mon – Thu 8:00‑5:00, Fri 8:00‑1:00

Key Eligibility

Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred. Must be a certified medical assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Engages in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and family members.
  • Collaborates with administrative and operations staff.
  • Obtains patient data through interview and observation.
  • Prepares patients and families for examination.
  • Assists physician or APP during examination and procedures.
  • Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.
  • Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health policies.
  • Acts as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally.
  • Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards.
  • Demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and follows infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies.
  • Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Uses knowledge and skills to assess data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients in the assigned department or unit.
  • Understands medical/legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory agency standards.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies.
  • Assists the business office with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.
Qualifications – Education & Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient‑care setting.
Licensure & Certification
  • Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Maintains current certification or registration by one of the following agencies:
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career Association (NHA)
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or American Allied Health (AAH)
    • Applicants with an accepted Medical Assistant certification or registration from an agency not listed will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
