Position Overview

The Laboratory Assistant II supports daily laboratory operations with a focus on specimen processing, patient registration, and customer service. This role plays a vital part in ensuring specimen integrity, workflow efficiency, and a positive patient experience in an outpatient lab setting.

Education & Training
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory or patient care experience
  • OR
  • Current student pursuing a science‑related degree
    , such as:
    • Nursing
    • Medical Technology
    • Pre‑Med
    • Related healthcare or life‑science programs
Preferred

Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of specimen collection, processing, and handling
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including varied shifts
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred (training provided as applicable)
Key Responsibilities
  • Receives, processes, and prepares laboratory specimens for testing
  • Registers patients and accurately enters laboratory orders into systems
  • Centrifuges, labels, aliquots, and routes specimens according to protocol
  • Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies and supports equipment upkeep
  • Assists with pathology specimens and performs phlebotomy when competency is met
  • Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Supports a clean, organized, and patient‑focused laboratory environment
