Overview
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Orlando, FL
. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.
- Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
- Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
- Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
- Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
- Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science required
- 1 year work experience
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope preferred
- Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
- 0-1 years of experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
- Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
- Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Training to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Orlando, FL are encouraged to apply
