Clinical Pharmacist

Position Summary

Perform essential pharmacy procedures consistent with scientific principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Understand the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, and the goals and objectives of Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
  • Familiarity with general duties of the Pharmacy department.
  • Identify and utilize resource persons and departments for customer service and patient care.
  • Operate equipment required for pharmacy procedures consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Dispense medications and intravenous fluids using the medication dispensing system according to scientific principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Document on appropriate forms and systems consistent with guidelines, defined standards of care and practice, and the quality improvements program.
  • Understand the various computer systems or applications in operation in the department and at Orlando Health.
  • Develop competency in all aspects of health‑system pharmacy practice, including pharmacotherapy, patient care, distributive services, drug information, and practice management.
  • Plan, organize, execute, and monitor pharmaceutical care plans.
  • Perform pharmacotherapy and pharmacokinetics consultations, as well as other clinical responsibilities if applicable at the site of practice (e.g., TPN initiation and monitoring).
  • Evaluate and address all appropriate alerts identified by CHR (e.g., IV to PO, renal dosing protocols).
  • Report and investigate adverse drug reactions, medication errors, and document them accordingly.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, if applicable at the site of practice.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Pharmacy degree (Bachelor of Science or Pharm

    D) required.
  • Licensed by the Florida Board of Pharmacy, renewed every two years.
