Public Health Nutritionist working with the Orange County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), providing nutrition education, counseling, and breastfeeding support to high‑risk clients and participating in program delivery and quality assurance.

• Conduct nutrition assessment and develop culturally relevant nutrition counseling and high‑risk care plans.
• Document services using SOAP format in WIC data system and/or medical file.
• Assess eligibility for WIC program and certify participants per DHM 150-24.
• Issue WIC electronic benefits, schedule appointments, and review benefit use.
• Lead the Public Health Nutritionist team in the absence of the supervisor, reporting staffing, facilities, and urgent decisions.
• Participate in quality assurance, monitoring, and community outreach events.
• Maintain current knowledge of nutrition theory and practice, including breastfeeding recommendations.
• Prepare and update nutrition education materials for counseling sessions and group presentations.

• One year of professional experience in nutrition and dietetics or a master’s degree in public health nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, or food service management from an accredited institution.
• Verifiable license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in Florida (Section 468, Florida Statutes) or eligibility to take the registered dietitian examination.
• Experience with WIC program policies, procedures, and financial eligibility assessment.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, work independently, and establish effective working relationships.

• One year professional nutrition experience or master’s degree in public health nutrition or related field.
• License as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in Florida.
• Willingness to work before, during, and beyond normal hours for emergency response and disaster duties.

• Security background check and/or drug screening.
• Direct deposit participation.
• Social Security Number required for background check.
