Position Summary
Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children provides compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years. Located on the downtown Orlando campus, the hospital includes 156 licensed beds for specialized pediatric care, the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, and offers trauma care as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center.

Arnold Palmer Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to assist with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they relate to Pharmacy Technician functions, including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions
- Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures.
- Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
- Performs the basic buyer procedures, including drug procurement, required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks/procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
- Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files, depending on the needs of the department.
- Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
- Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition‑controlled substance inventory management).
Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPht) received through a nationally recognized program (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Certification Board – PTCB, Institute of Pharmacy Technicians – ICPT) is required.
- Maintenance of current certification is required.
Experience
- Greater than four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
