Position Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Coordinator supports day‑to‑day operations, schedules and trains staff, monitors quality, and operates equipment. The coordinator serves as a working lead covering shifts and participates in the EVS Leadership team. The role develops and monitors EVS procedures and contributes to department quality initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Conduct one‑on‑one training using approved techniques and materials.
- Provide instruction to new hires and current employees.
- Demonstrate technical cleaning skills for patient & non‑patient rooms, isolation rooms, critical care areas, ER trauma units, and ancillary areas.
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers using appropriate engagement techniques.
- Maintain accurate floor‑care logs and checklists.
- Mix chemicals according to instructions.
- Show professional communication with patients, visitors, and other healthcare workers.
- Model the organization’s mission statement and adhere to all safety directives.
- Complete mandatory training as required.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Maintain productivity and volume standards.
- Stay current on all policies and procedures.
- Practice critical thinking for prioritization, including Stat cleans.
- Utilize resources to ensure problems are resolved.
- Demonstrate facility safety knowledge.
- Operate and maintain all EVS tools and equipment.
- Assist with onboarding new EVS Technicians I–V.
- Perform cleaning duties across patient areas.
- Replenish supplies as needed.
- Instruct proper use of bed management system.
- Execute tasks such as pushing, pulling, cleaning carts, moving supplies, and operating equipment.
- Provide comprehensive shift oversight.
- Conduct new hire 60‑day evaluations and assist with annual competencies.
- Interface with Supervisors, Office Coordinators, Ops. Managers, and Director.
- Drive improvement opportunities and lead or participate in performance improvement projects.
- Research, coordinate, and implement core training programs and systems.
- Develop and use evaluation systems to measure educational effectiveness.
- Collaborate on training material selection with director or manager.
- Maintain and organize training materials and validate employee competency training to meet accreditation requirements.
- Establish annual continuing education calendar.
- Complete training evaluations and critique reports for each trainee.
Qualifications
Education / Training
- High School Diploma or GED
Licensure / Certification
- DOT Certification
- CSCT – Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician
- CHEST Certification – Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional
Experience
- Five (5) years health care environmental services experience
- Analytical and oral communication skills
- Bed Management Systems experience
Seniority Level – Mid‑Senior Level
