- Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.
- Supervise staff of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and provide WIC and Nutrition services within an assigned geographic area in Orange County.
- Maintain vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and complete timesheets.
- Ensure all staff complete required training and are offered additional training.
- Monitor quality and quantity of work of the direct reports and assess employee time utilization.
- Prioritize work assignments and work objectives, reassign work as necessary, and meet deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with employees individually and in staff meetings; motivate employees to improve quality and quantity of work.
- Perform monitoring and quality assurance activities, review and approve EARs, time and attendance reports, and travel reimbursement for site staff.
- Prepare records and reports, summarize and analyze statistics of WIC Program services at regular intervals.
- Work on FL WiSE reports and distribute client lists to Nutrition and Support staff.
- Delegate supervision coverage to Licensed Nutrition staff for medical food orders, inventories, leave time, and work schedules.
- Participate in staff hiring processes.
- Perform nutrition assessment, provide culturally relevant counseling, develop nutrition care plans, and complete necessary documentation.
- Determine nutritional risk, evaluate program eligibility, and certify participants to the WIC Program.
- Issue WIC electronic benefits and schedule appointments.
- Answer questions regarding access to WIC program services.
- Coordinate overall site management and program activities with other WIC and departmental supervisors, community agencies, and organizations.
- Serve as a consultant on nutrition and dietetics.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current theory and practice of nutrition and dietetics.
- Perform related duties as requested/required.
- Ability to supervise employees.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of WIC program policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current science and practice of nutrition and dietetics.
- Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques.
- Ability to analyze and interpret anthropometric, biochemical, dietary and clinical data.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations.
- Verifiable license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes.
- 3 years of professional experience in Public Health Nutrition, or master’s degree in Nutrition from an accredited college or university.
- Verifiable experience working with the FL‑WiSE in the last two years.
- Required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in an emergency, including responses in Special Needs or Red Cross Shelters.
