Position Summary

Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
  • Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
  • Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations and policy and procedures.
  • Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
  • Performs basic buying procedures including drug procurement required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and performs tasks associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
  • Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
  • Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
  • Participates in training new pharmacy technicians if needed.
  • Maintains advanced expertise and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition) depending on departmental needs.
  • Maintains reasonable, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Attends in‑services/meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
  • Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Greater than one year up to four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
