The hospital offers 9 advanced operating rooms, a hybrid OR with real‑time imaging, and comprehensive services across cardiology, neurology, oncology, and surgery.
Job Summary:
Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including the use of Orlando Health software and hardware systems.
- Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrates understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
- Operates the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures.
- Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
- Performs the basic buyer procedures, including drug procurement required by the department, consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties related to medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
- Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
- Maintains the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files depending on the needs of the department.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians and may verify final competency as needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g. medication history acquisition – controlled substance inventory management).
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Attends in‑services/meetings as required.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
- Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
- Holds a current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) certificate from a nationally recognized program; maintenance of current certification is required.
- Two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
Salary: $42,120.00 – $60,008.00
