Position Summary
Orlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly‑owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in‑patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with Care Spot Urgent Care. Nearly 4,200 physicians, representing more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs nearly 22,000 team members.
Areas of clinical excellence are orthopedics, heart and vascular, cancer care, neurosciences, surgery, pediatric specialties, neonatology, women’s health and trauma.
Nuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes; perform patient procedures, process and enhance images, and prepare images for interpreting physicians to view. The role requires delivering appropriate care while adhering to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.

- Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required.
- Exercise professional judgment and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Deliver appropriate care while ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Perform all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies.
- Perform SPECT, SPECT CT, and PET imaging as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physicians.
- Perform all computer acquisition, processing, and documentation as required.
- Perform quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation per written procedures or manufacturer guidelines.
- Order and administer radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required.
- Maintain records as outlined by the Florida Department of Health Radiation Control.
- Perform safety checks per Florida Department of Health Radiation Control guidelines.
- Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as prescribed.
- Assist in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user.
- Participate in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.
- Maintain professionally acceptable attendance and comply with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards.
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- May be required to work at any facility.
- Provide safe patient transport.
- Handle, dispose and decontaminate radioactive materials and maintain records under Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of procedural changes and equipment updates.
- Demonstrate professional judgment and decision‑making skills; solicit supervisory input as appropriate.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of patient studies.
- Provide patient and family education of studies performed.
- Participate in compliance with OSHA, The Joint Commission, FDA, NRC, EPA, and Florida Department of Health regulations.
Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Licensure / Certification- Maintain current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine.
- Maintain current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Maintain current BLS/Health Care Provider certification.
None. Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.
