The role you'll contribute

The Clinical Pharmacist supports the mission of the department, hospital, and health-system by preventing, identifying and resolving medication use issues to assure patient safety, improve patient satisfaction, optimize patient outcomes and minimize cost. Will perform all functions of a registered pharmacist including accurate and timely dispensing, clinical interactions with patients and healthcare team, and technician supervision.

  • Pharmacy Operations – Actively performs all pharmacist functions, participates in standard work parameters, maintains functional proficiency in central and satellite pharmacy coverage, oversees medication automation, manages inventories and dispenses patient-specific doses, supervises technicians and interns, ensuring workflow accuracy.
  • Pharmacy Practice – Completes critical medication order scrutiny, drug profile review, and patient monitoring to identify and mitigate medication-related problems. Communicates with medical staff, participates in stewardship, manages consults, facilitates medication safety, and engages in medical emergencies.
  • Clinical Pharmacy Services – Provides accurate, safe, timely medication therapy, collaborates with providers, and prioritizes patient-centered care.
  • Teamwork and Inter‑professional Collaboration – Ensures continuity of care between shifts, supports other pharmacy operations, works effectively with all team members, and demonstrates sensitivity in communication.
  • Education & Mentoring – Mentors new staff, supports training of all staff, mentors pharmacy students, and delivers evidence-based education to nurses, patients, and pharmacy team members.
  • Quality Improvement & Compliance – Supports initiatives to improve medication-related processes, pharmacy systems, and patient care programs, and assists with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed

Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or other advanced pharmacy degree
Education and Experience Preferred

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency OR Three years of clinical pharmacy experience

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required
  • Applicable State Pharmacy License
  • BLS and ACLS
Licensure, Certification or Registration Preferred

BLS, ACLS, PALS and/or NRP may be required for some facilities based on department requirements and pharmacist role, as defined by specialty unit. Refer to hiring manager for needs.
