Position SummaryNuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes; perform patient procedures, image processing, and prepare images for the interpreting physician.
This position will float between locations from Merritt Island to Sebastian and requires the ability to drive our nuclear van.

- Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required. Dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT) may also perform diagnostic CT imaging.
- Exercises professional judgment and maintains quality of care.
- Delivers appropriate care while ensuring procedure success.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static, and functional procedures for specific studies.
- Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as guidelines or physician order allow.
- Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures.
- Performs all computer acquisition, processing, and documentation as required.
- Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation per written procedure or manufacturer guidelines.
- Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required.
- Maintains records per Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control regulations.
- Performs all safety checks per Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
- Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for radiopharmaceutical and medication administration prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law.
- Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials.
- Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains punctual attendance and complies with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and education requirements.
- Participates in Process Improvement activities.
- May be required to work at any facility.
- Provides safe patient transport.
- Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials with records under Florida regulations.
- Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making; solicits supervisory input as appropriate.
- Responsible for study completeness and accuracy.
- Provides patient and family education regarding studies.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations including OSHA, Joint Commission, FDA, NRC, EPA, and Florida Department of Health.
- Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the NMTCB or ARRT (N) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine.
- Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Maintains current BLS/Health Care Provider certification.
- None required. Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.
