Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Water Division ensures a safe and reliable water supply for all of Orange County Utilities’ customers. The Water Division operates three regional water supply facilities and nine satellite water supply facilities that collectively produce approximately 60 million gallons per day.
The Water Division is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Program Coordinator – Non Exempt. This is professional and administrative work planning, coordinating and managing the various programs of a department. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Program Manager or other supervisor. Work is reviewed for the achievement of desired results through conferences and reports.
Job Description
General Functions
This position is responsible for coordinating and providing administrative/clerical support to the assigned division/section. The role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day functions of the assigned area and for performing a variety of administrative support tasks including communicating with internal county staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of assigned supervisor and is reviewed through reports and logs for accuracy and achievement of desired results.
Representative Duties/Assignments
- Develop and implement water utility-specific and water conservation-specific education programs and information materials for K-12 students, community groups and neighborhood groups.
- Experienced in Community outreach and in public speaking settings.
- Collaborate with educational partners to promote water conservation programs in K-12 schools, post-secondary institutions, parks and other appropriate locations.
- Organize, attend and present water conservation programs to community and neighborhood groups.
- Maintain data and produce reports relative to the number of people reached through programs delivered.
- Manage the yearly student art contest and produce the Water Conservation Calendar.
- Maintain inventory of supplies for educational programs.
- Correlate water conservation education programs to public school standards.
- Write correspondence and reports on water conservation programs.
- Develop and present PowerPoint presentations on water conservation as appropriate for various audiences.
- Assist Education Program Manager with H20 Pipeline Classroom to Career Initiative.
- Assist and execute community events on behalf of the Water Division and Utility department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience developing and administering programming to a target audience in a public setting. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Working knowledge of Office Suite programs (Word, Outlook and Excel – advanced)
- Conservation and/or Education background
- The ability to lift and bend moderate to heavy items up to 50 pounds as well as stoop, climb, walk and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- 2 years’ public engagement experience.
- Strong programming background within the public sector.
- Experience developing programs for K-12 students.
