Financial Controller Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
- Oversee general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, cost accounting, and treasury functions
- Lead monthly close, quarterly forecasting, and annual budgeting processes
- Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variance analysis, and board-ready reports
- Manage project/job costing, WIP reporting, and overhead allocation
- Analyze bid outcomes and project profitability to guide pricing and resource decisions
- Monitor cash flow and maintain rolling 13-week forecasts
- Optimize working capital and manage banking relationships and credit lines
- Model capital investments, fleet and equipment purchases, and seasonal trends
- Maintain GAAP-compliant financial reporting and strong internal controls
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement remediation plans
- Oversee tax compliance including corporate, sales, and payroll taxes
- Lead and develop finance team including AP, AR, payroll, and accounting staff
- Partner with operations, estimators, and executive leadership to align financial and operational goals
- Oversee ERP systems and drive process improvements and automation
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience required
- 3+ years in a Controller or finance leadership role required
- CPA or CMA, Preferred
- Construction or subcontractor industry experience preferred
- Strong GAAP knowledge and job costing/project accounting experience required
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems such as Net Suite, Sage, Viewpoint, or Quick Books Enterprise required
- Experience managing multi-site operations and financial modeling preferred
- Knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance preferred
- Fully onsite in Orlando, FL (Monday-Friday)
- Approximately 5-10% travel between locations and project sites
