The Opportunity
This position performs post-award sponsored program functions associated with the post-award administration of sponsored awards. The Post Award Finance Specialist III will work independently with minimal supervision in the management of sponsored awards from award setup through the administrative closeout of the award. This position will report to the Assistant Director, Sponsored Programs, Post Award.
Responsibilities- Assist with award setup, including review of award documents to extrapolate critical information and perform all data entry functions in Huron Research Suite for new awards and all post award modifications including incremental funds, extensions, budget transfers etc.
- Provide guidance, routine mentoring and assistance to junior team members for troubleshooting and training as needed for various post-award functions including review and approval of pre-expenditure submissions in Workday for travel and procurement to ensure they are allowable, allocable, and reasonable.
- Prepare various financial and other project related reports, analyze, coordinate and report findings to Management in various on-going yearly audits for various award management functions including routine monitoring of award requirements as required.
- Advise PIs and department research administrators on post-award activities, including available budgets, compliance rules, award-specific restrictions and terms and conditions, UCF policies and procedures and advise on strategic options, as needed.
- Collaborate with other Office of Research units and college administrators as needed to provide solutions to resolve various project related or financial budget discrepancies and assist junior members with analysis for budgetary modifications to address over-expenditures, missing human subjects approved protocols etc.
- Act as a primary point of contact for matters related to executed sponsored projects and act as a liaison between the PI, sponsor and UCF for all executed awards including completion and submission of certifications, report and post award request submissions through sponsor portals, as needed.
- Analyze, collect data and assist with timely administrative closeout functions for recently ended awards including coordination with subrecipients, other Office of Research units, PIs and college administrators.

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in sponsored project management, preferably within a central office at an institution of higher education or within a college or departmental setting at the University of Central Florida.
- In-depth knowledge of grant management, sponsored project administration, Uniform Guidance, federal regulations, and UCF-specific policies and procedures.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and institutional policies, with the ability to interpret and apply guidance in operational contexts.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving expertise, with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting complex issues.
- Proficiency in Huron Research Suite, Workday, or similar systems used in research administration and operational workflows.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and research administration staff.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $80,648. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
