Audio Technician – BMG Orlando
Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for On-Call Audio Technicians.
The Audio Technician provides show and rehearsal coverage and may also be scheduled for work calls as needed. In addition to show responsibilities, the Audio Technician is responsible for maintaining and/or repairing all technical elements of the show under the direction of the Head of Audio, and/or the supervision of the Production Manager. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential, as are interpersonal skills.
The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. The ability to work within established deadlines is required. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of all technical elements of the show under the direction of the Head of Audio and/or the Production Manager.
- Participate in work calls as scheduled.
- Execute general repair, construction, maintenance, and/or restocking of Audio Department supplies and equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
- Maintain open communication with management and associated show staff about any show notes, technical problems, or concerns.
- Responsible for maintaining equipment and work spaces as defined by preset.
- Support cross-training and workshops as needed.
- Must be willing and available to run more shows during the holiday schedule than usual.
- Mix live music for performances as directed by the Head of Audio.
- Responsible for executing show cues.
- Perform preset duties as well as turnover and post-show duties.
- Research and develop on an as needs basis.
- Administrative organization on an as needs basis.
- Assist in maintaining inventory.
- Attend meetings as required by management.
- Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of work spaces.
- Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department.
- Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events.
- Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance to other departments as needed.
- All other work-related duties as assigned.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong operational and programming knowledge of sound consoles and equipment for live entertainment.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Flexible schedule.
- Organizational skills a must.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show.
- Adhere to and promote all OSHA regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
- Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods.
- Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support.
- At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Production or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset. - Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility;
