Position Summary:
Senior Quality Engineer role requires hands-on metrology experience in a precision manufacturing environment to support the inspection and measurement of components for aerospace applications. This role requires deep experience in aerospace quality systems, supplier audits, failure analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams. This role plays a key part in ensuring measurement accuracy, compliance with aerospace standards, and the overall integrity of our quality system.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced dimensional inspections of precision RF filter components and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and Multi-Sensor Measurement Systems.
- Develop, review, and improve inspection methods, measurement plans, and work instructions.
- Conduct and analyze measurement system evaluations, including Gage R&R and uncertainty analyses.
- Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) and customer-required inspection documentation (e.g., AS9102).
- Investigate measurement-related nonconformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Engineering to interpret complex drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to Inspectors and Engineers.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA, 8D, DMAIC) for supplier nonconformances and escapes
- Review and provide feedback on supplier documentation, including FAI (AS9102) and SCAR responses
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers on supplier-related issues impacting performance, reliability, or manufacturability
- Monitor supplier performance metrics (yield, defect rates, OTD) and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform supplier audits (on-site and remote), including initial qualification, surveillance, and special process audits
- Travel to supplier sites as required (typically 10-25%)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of dimensional metrology principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Proficiency in documentation and quality records management.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements relevant to RF and aerospace electronics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Analytical and methodical problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and repeatability in measurement work.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to prioritize work in a regulated, production-driven environment.
- Leadership mindset with willingness to mentor and share expertise.
- Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license.
- 4-year degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in metrology, quality inspection, or dimensional measurement within a precision manufacturing environment and supplier evaluation required.
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with RF, microwave, or precision electronic components.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and AS9102 FAI requirements.
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments.
- May involve standing for periods, working around machinery, and wearing required PPE.
- Some light lifting required.
