Senior or Principal Project Engineer

A growing engineering organization in the Orlando, Florida metro area is seeking a highly motivated Senior or Principal‑level Project Engineer to join its expanding team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the success of a new Florida office while contributing to high‑profile projects in the Amusement, Entertainment, and Aerospace industries. The work focuses on show action equipment, dynamic ride systems, and mission‑critical aerospace tooling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead testing, commissioning, and turnover of mechanical equipment and systems to clients.
  • Provide hands‑on field support including construction supervision, troubleshooting, and warranty services.
  • Resolve design and construction issues in real time during field operations.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of components at manufacturing facilities and support field installation.
  • Collaborate with contractors, fabricators, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support the mechanical design team with concept development, calculations, and detailed mechanical designs.
  • Design complex machinery such as gearing, actuators, wheels, weldments, bearings, and related assemblies.
  • Provide project updates and ensure seamless integration of systems during design reviews with architects, contractors, consultants, and engineering teams.
  • Manage multi‑discipline construction projects in both the field and office environments.
Required Skills And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET‑accredited program in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • EIT certification with plans to pursue the PE exam.
  • Five or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or three or more years with a master’s degree, in a related engineering field.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, and turnover of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve technical issues on site.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability with a system‑level mindset.
  • Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and in outdoor environments including heat, cold, and adverse weather.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing fifteen to thirty‑five pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when needed for site operations.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Ability to work remotely initially with an expected transition to on‑site work in Orlando in Q3 2025.
  • Willingness to travel up to twenty percent, primarily to headquarters locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Florida PE license.
  • Two or more years of experience in the Amusement or Entertainment industry.
  • Proficiency with Solid Works, Solid Works Simulation, and Ansys.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and field supervision.
  • Experience managing risks associated with custom or first‑of‑its‑kind designs.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and make timely, informed decisions.
  • Enthusiasm for hands‑on field work and solving mechanical challenges.
  • Familiarity with applicable standards including ASTM F2291, AISC, and AWS.
