Job Overview
Leidos is hiring a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer in Orlando, FL. The role focuses on designing substation protection and control projects for electric utilities ranging from 12kV to 500kV, leveraging digital logic design and AC/DC circuit knowledge.
Responsibilities- Design and plan electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
- Prepare single‑line diagrams, schematics, and wiring designs.
- Conduct studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
- Perform quality control checks on wiring designs.
- Support construction activities and project lifecycle from scoping to implementation.
- Apply the National Electrical Safety Code and client standards to designs.
- Collaborate with designers, drafters, and CAD technicians.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of substation protection/control design experience.
- Master’s degree with 6+ years of substation protection/control design experience (preferred).
- Proven experience executing substation protection and control projects.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and clients.
- Proficiency in reading and designing one‑line, three‑line, AC/DC schematic, and wiring drawings.
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Collaborative leader who can work independently with minimal direction.
- Detail‑oriented, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- High computer competency.
- Willingness to travel to project/client sites and the Portland, OR office as needed.
