Senior Substation Designer

Overview

The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Substation Designer leads design efforts for complex substation projects, applying advanced engineering principles and Autodesk Inventor (SDS) expertise.

• Apply engineering standards, codes, and Black & Veatch policies to develop and review design deliverables.
• Perform design calculations, material quantity estimates, and record detailed material specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting project coordination and client focus.
• Maintain drawing control and historical records, ensuring compliance with project schedules and requirements.

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Drafting, Engineering Design, or related technology.
• 8‑11 years of progressive experience in substation design, Auto Desk Inventor (SDS), and physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS).
• Advanced knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and project management practices.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and team mentoring skills.

Minimum of 11 years of related work experience and advanced expertise in Auto Desk Inventor (SDS) and physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS).
