JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for leading the Ride and Show Network (RSN) and Advanced Technology Interactives (ATI) required to sustain Engineering initiatives related to rides, shows, and attractions at Universal Orlando Resort (UOR). Responsible for leading the Field Service Engineering (FSE) Network team. Provides overall leadership, strategic vision, guidance, and direction to the Technical Services Network, Communication, and Advanced Technology teams to enhance maintenance efforts, reduce downtimes, maintain Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) standards, and ensure global alignment.

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees and manages the Networks, Communications, ATI, and FSE Networks teams and tasks at UOR to support 7 days a week and 24 hour a day coverage. Supports the Technical Services Engineering Department to ensure that rides, shows, and attractions are compliant with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and UDX requirements.
  • Manages re‑design and development efforts for Networks, Communications, and ATI systems of venues to provide increased safety, security, reliability, and operational improvements. Partners closely with Technical Services Ride and Show and Universal Creative to maintain a high level of ride reliability and assists in emergency recovery due to unforeseen occurrences at the attractions. Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, regulations and standards including: AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, ISA
    99, IEEE, JIC, NEC, NEMA, NIST, NFPA, OSHA, etc. Monitors the design review process for work in progress to assure maximum efficiency in both work quality and productivity. Manages assigned projects from design through installation to include project schedules, testing, training, and budget demands.
  • Responsible to oversee existing Venue architecture renovations and updates where applicable to take advantage of new safety and security requirements as part of the Ride & Show Network. This includes integrating new security models with data aggregation and trending in mind to increase reliability and decrease liability where possible. Manage network designs from multiple projects and ensure appropriate security, growth, safety, redundancy, reliability, and sustainability design strategies are in place and given the proper weighting in the design objectives.

    Interact with UOR Technical Services Ride and Show Maintenance Departments to prioritize project tasks and training initiatives to improve ride reliability and operational readiness. All work shall be in conformance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to UOR Engineers, including guidance on Engineering Systems and Standards (ECNs, TDs, DCNs, Bulletins, etc.), ensuring their documents are completed correctly and efficiently.
  • Coordinates engineering activities between vendors, engineers, Universal Creative, ride supervisors, ride managers and technicians. Provides project status of assigned task list items to the appropriate Ride Manager and Engineering Manager on a regular basis. Resolve problems and design issues quickly with communication to vendors.
  • Leads all Network, Communication, ATI, and FSE Network Engineering efforts regarding Team Member Satisfaction (TSAT) to ensure Engineers are satisfied and engaged and that continual improvement is embraced.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Networks, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Master of Science in Engineering or Business Administration is preferred.
