The Lead Site Commissioning Engineer will be the technical authority on-site for all commissioning activities in high-voltage substation EPC and turnkey projects. You will develop and execute comprehensive commissioning strategies, ensuring that all primary and secondary systems—including transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, protection relays, and SCADA—are tested, energized, and integrated safely and efficiently. Acting as the key liaison between engineering, construction, and client teams, you will manage risk, resolve technical challenges, and drive alignment on project milestones.

Your leadership will foster a culture of safety and precision while ensuring compliance with grid codes, IEC/IEEE standards, and client requirements. This role demands strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to lead teams under tight deadlines to achieve successful energization and handover, directly impacting grid reliability and customer satisfaction.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for HV substations. Ensuring readiness for energization and managing isolation/PTW processes.

  • Oversee testing and commissioning of primary and secondary equipment, including transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, protection relays, SCADA systems, and control panels.

  • Supervise and mentor commissioning teams, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Liaise with project managers, OEMs, and client representatives to align commissioning activities with project timelines and budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NERC, OSHA, and client-specific standards. Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation: test reports, NCRs, RAMS, and as-built records.

  • Implement Siemens Energy’s Zero Harm safety program, conduct safety training, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in leading site commissioning activities, with a must-have background in high voltage substations. Working knowledge of grid operations, energy storage systems (BESS), and substation controls preferred.

  • Ability to interpret single line diagrams, schematics, and test procedures. Familiarity with HV equipment and protection schemes.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and safety management on high voltage sites.

  • Strong communication skills, Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure while managing simultaneous critical infrastructure construction operations.

  • Proficient in daily reporting, including progress updates, safety compliance, and environmental issues.

  • 50% travel domestic (North America).
