WHAT WE’RE DOING

At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, we’re on a mission to drive innovation and uphold the highest standards of business ethics. As a Lockheed Martin employee, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in an environment that values integrity and excellence.

THE WORK

Program Planning – What It Is & Why It Matters

Program planning is the backbone of successful, complex projects. Planners translate strategic goals into detailed, time‑phased schedules, identify risks, and provide the data that leaders need to make informed decisions. Think of it as the “navigation system” for multidisciplinary programs - guiding resources, milestones, and deliverables from concept to completion.

If you have ever coordinated construction timelines, managed curriculum rollouts, planned hospitality events, coordinated healthcare programs, overseen product launches, or synchronized mission‑critical operations, you already practice the core of program planning. This role gives you the chance to sharpen those skills, learn industry leading tools, and grow a career that directly supports national defense and aerospace innovation.

As the Program Planner, Associate, you will support the preparation and maintenance of program schedules and plans, working closely with Integrated Program Planners to drive program execution. You will be part of an F‑35 Planning team that serves as trusted partners and strategic advisors for our internal and external customers.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supporting the preparation, execution, and maintenance of new or existing planning products
  • Developing and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) leveraging the Program Summary Master Schedules (PSMS)
  • Identifying Critical/Driving Paths, performing probabilistic/deterministic risk analysis, and developing corrective actions
  • Supporting proposal submittal and execution schedule development to meet established plans and parameters
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Earned Value Management System through cost and schedule integration throughout the program lifecycle

US citizenship is required due to program requirements.

WHO YOU ARE

You possess a unique blend of technical and interpersonal skills that enable you to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment:

  • Technical foundation: Proficiency in a planning tool with the ability to learn new scheduling tools such as Deltek Open Plan, MS Project, or comparable platforms.
  • Organizational excellence: Proven skill in managing multiple tasks, tracking detailed information, and keeping projects on schedule.
  • Communication strength: Comfortable presenting data, explaining schedule impacts, and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability & confidence: Able to work independently, absorb new concepts quickly, and contribute constructively within a team.
  • Employees in a level 1 role typically have around 1 year of related professional experience.
